Russell is an iconic mainstay in sports and casual wear, but a lot has changed in the industry since they first started manufacturing cotton jerseys. With brand giants like Nike and Under Armour, and now the seemingly endless flow of instagram-savvy start-up brands, this is no longer their grand-dad’s sweatshirt game. So in 2021, Russell brought in Tomboy to art direct some of the brand’s first lifestyle content— overseeing an extensive photo shoot of their Heritage Collection for use in e-commerce and social content. We managed stylists, props, and locations, all while keeping the broad vision and brand ethos in mind.
